Volunteering

Current List of Opportunities

Volunteers are valuable members of the Regional Parks team. Because of their efforts our Department is able to offer fun and diverse activities to park visitors. In addition, they assist staff with the operation and maintenance of many of the County's 41 parks.

All volunteer positions necessitate a background check. The Regional Parks Department pays for all costs associated with the check.

Dog Park

Volunteers are needed to help maintain the Elizabeth Anne Perrone off-leash dog area located in Sonoma Valley Regional Park. With over an acre of fenced-in lawn area, dogs and their owners come from all over the Sonoma Valley to socialize. Volunteers help out by informing visitors of park rules and regulations, reminding visitors to clean up after their dogs and by performing a bit of light maintenance around the park. Volunteers also assist with the park's annual fundraiser that raises money for park improvements. The time commitment for this position is 2-hours a week at your own convenience.

Gate Opener

Gate openers are needed at Larson, Maxwell Farms and Foothill Regional Parks to open park gates before 7am. This position is ideal for a group of volunteers who work as a team opening the gates seven days a week. Volunteers are issued a key and given a brief orientation on park rules & regulations. Volunteers are also asked to report and vandalism or hazards they might happen upon during their park visits.
