Central Sonoma Valley Bikeway - Larson Park to Highway 12
This is the first phase of a multi phased project as described in the Central Sonoma Valley Bikeway Plan Final Report dated November 15, 2001. The report identified a 2.76-mile conceptual bike/pedestrian pathway from Verano Avenue to Agua Caliente Road in the Sonoma Valley area. Please see Figure 3 titled “Preferred Alignment”. The pathway would provide pedestrians and bicyclists an alternative route to Highway 12.
For the first phase, the proposed pathway starts at Larson Park which is owned by the County, continues through Flowery Elementary School, and ends at Highway 12. Please see aerial plan titled “Central Sonoma Valley Bikeway – Phase 1”. An easement would need to be acquired from the Sonoma Valley Unified School District. The proposed schedule of work includes the following: 1) perform topographic and boundary survey of Flowery Elementary School and Larson Park, 2) negotiate easement with Sonoma Valley Unified School District, 3) complete environmental documents, 4) construct pathway.
The project is funded by TDA (Transportation Development Act) Article 3 and Measure M funds.

Santa Rosa Creek Trail Reach F - Willowside Road to Fulton Road
PROJECT UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 17, 2008
In response to the overwhelming public comment received at the August 18, 2008 meeting of the Sonoma County Park and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) on the topic of the Santa Rosa Creek Trail, Reach F: Willowside Road to Fulton Road, the Sonoma County Regional Parks Department (Regional Parks) is processing a request with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) for the Transportation for Livable Communities (TLC) grant to extend the grant deadline. As a result, Regional Parks has postponed the advertisement process for soliciting construction bids for this project. Construction will not occur in 2008, as described in the grant application.
Furthermore, Regional Parks will schedule a public meeting to discuss the topics brought forward by the public at the August 18, 2008 PRAC meeting and subsequent correspondence. Information about the public meeting will be posted on the Regional Parks website and will be sent via email or postal service to those on the project mailing list. If you have submitted an email to Regional Parks about this project, you are on the project mailing list already for email. If you wish to receive notice via postal service, or if you would like to be added to the project mailing list, please contact Nora Guy, Office Assistant II, at nguy@sonoma-county.org or 565-2746.
Please contact Ken Tam, Park Planner II, at ktam@sonoma-county.org or 565-3348 if you have questions about the project itself.
BACKGROUNDIn June 2007, in partnership with the Sonoma County Water Agency, Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, and Regional Parks Department, the first phase of the trail was completed by installing three multi-use bridges along Reach F. The next phase of this project is to design and pave the trail
The 2.14-mile paved trail will be constructed on the northern gravel service road between Willowside Road and Fulton Road. The paved surface will be accessible to wheel chairs and bicycles. The paved trail is funded by $550,000 from the Transportation for Livable Communities (TLC), $50,000 from park mitigation fees, and $100,000 from TDA (Transportation Development Act) Article 3. The tentative construction start date is Summer 2008.
