Healthy Earth, Healthy Bodies!
Take a field trip to the farm! Healthy Earth, Healthy Bodies is a hands-on Kindergarten through 6th grade science field trip program at Tolay Lake Regional Park which focuses on the interconnections between our health, our choices, and our environment. Students learn about farming, stewardship, biology, natural resources, nutrition, and healthy recreation through age-appropriate activities that build upon and exceed the California State Science Standards. Students will learn the benefits of eating unprocessed foods low on the food chain as they hike around the farm, do science experiments, and work in the garden. The program empowers children with scientific knowledge to help them develop healthy lifestyles into adulthood.
Program Goals:
- To foster the connection of children with cultural and natural resources
- To encourage students to take ownership of park spaces
- To empower students to make healthy living choices
- To support classroom instruction with an interdisciplinary, place-based, relevant, hands-on curriculum
