Where are the volunteer positions available?
Many volunteer opportunities are in and around the County offices off Administration Drive in Santa Rosa, but they are also at Juvenile Hall near Oakmont, at the Animal Shelter near the airport, at Orenda Center in Southwest Santa Rosa, and at various campgrounds around the County.  Volunteers also serve during search and rescue operations and as Reserve Deputies throughout the County.

How can I learn more about the departments and programs that need volunteers?
The Volunteer Bulletin lists a website link for most programs.  You can also click on a job description for detailed information on each volunteer opportunity.  Call us at (707) 565-2821 if you’d like more information.

How much time am I required to volunteer and are the hours flexible?
Generally, volunteer assignments vary from 2 - 8 hours a week and volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment of three months.  Some positions require longer commitments; others are shorter term.  Many positions are flexibly scheduled and others require set hours.

Do I need training or experience?
Some positions require no experience and others offer on-the-job training.  For some, like Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Search and Rescue, a training program is required.  We will be happy to tell you the specifics of any position you are interested in.
