Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program
The Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program at the Sonoma County Department of Health Services offers a number of services to assist both patients and health providers, including:
- Evaluation and treatment of patients with suspected or active tuberculosis (TB)
- Treatment of latent TB infection
- Immigration, school, and work clearance
- Medical consultation to health providers
- Tuberculin skin tests
- X-ray referrals
- Case management
- Health education and counseling
- Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) in clinic and community settings
For the Community
The TB Control Program provides confidential testing and treatment services for both latent TB infection and active TB disease. Patients are seen by appointment only. Patients must call the Public Health Clinic at 565-4824 or Request an appointment online to make an appointment if they need a consultation or evaluation of their positive TB test result or chest x-ray.
The TB Control Program does not cover the cost of chest x-rays for official clearances for work, volunteer work, treatment programs, school, day care, etc. Patients may call the Public Health Clinic at 565-4824 for information regarding fees according to their individual situations.

The TB Control Program provides medical consultation to health providers, and treatment and case management for latent and active cases referred to the program.

Patient Referrals
Patients can be referred to the TB Control Program by:
- Phone: Call the TB Control Program at 565-4762.
- Fax: Complete the TB referral form (pdf), and fax it to the TB Control Program at 565-4797.
- CMR: When you submit the CMR form to Public Health, a disease control nurse will follow up with the patient.
Disease Reporting
Health providers are mandated by Title 17 to report tuberculosis or suspect tuberculosis to the county health department within one working day. The CMR form is available online.
