Mycology
This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
Routine fungus culturing and microscopy.
Specimens
Mycobacteriology testing is performed on sputum, tissue, CSF, blood, and other respiratory samples or body fluid.
Specimen Collection
Please collect 10 ml of the first morning coughed-up sputum, and place the sample in a sterile, screw-top container.
Specimen Storage
Store specimens at refrigerator temperature.
Specimen Transport
Specimens must be refrigerated and transported in a biohazard bag, and may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours.
Testing Results
Preliminary results are available in 1 week. Final results are available in 4 weeks.
Antibiotic sensitivity is available upon request.
Specimen Submission Forms
Physician's order, patient information and billing information must accompany the specimen. Use the Monster form for submission.
