Malaria Testing
This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
Microscopy of whole blood.
Specimens
Thick and thin blood smears, whole blood, purple-top EDTA.
Specimen Collection
Thick and thin blood smears, whole blood, purple-top EDTA.
One sample is sufficient to culture and identify all of the respiratory viruses.
Specimen Storage
Specimens should be stored room temperatue.
Specimen Transport
Specimens must be stored at roome temperature, and may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours.
Testing Results
Results are available in 1 to 3 days.
