TPPA (Treponema) Darkfield Syphilis Serology Confirmation
This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
Treponema Pallidum Particle Agglutination Testing (TPPA) is used to detect antibodies to the various species and subspecies of pathogenic Treponema, including the cansitive agent of syphilis, Treponema pallidum.

Specimens
Treponema pallidum Particle Agglutination Testing (TPPA) is FDA approved for serum and plasma specimens.
Specimen Collection
Serum is the specimen of choice. Collect 1 ml of serum, drawing blood into a red-top tube, spinning, and pouring serum off into another tube.
Specimen Storage
Refrigerate the specimen at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
Specimen Transport
Specimens may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours, or sent by mail. Avoid exposure to temperature extremes.
Testing Results
Results are available 1 to 3 normal working days after receipt of specimen at the laboratory. A written report will be provided for all specimens received. Positive results will be phoned and/or faxed upon request.
