This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis testing is used to detect total antibody via direct immunofluorescent antibody.
Specimens
Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis is FDA approved for serum sample specimens.
Specimen Collection
Collect 1 ml of serum, drawing blood into a red-top tube, spinning to separate plasma from red blood cells.
Specimen Storage
Store the specimen in refrigeration.
Specimen Transport
Specimens must be refrigerated, and may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours, or sent by mail.
Testing Results
Results are available 1 to 7 normal working days after receipt of specimen at the laboratory. A written report will be provided for all specimens received. Positive results will be phoned and/or faxed upon request.
