HIV Antibody Testing: Western Blot
This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
HIV Antibody Testing is used detect antibodies to HIV-1 virus via ELISA, with confirmation by Western Blot.
Specimens
HIV Antibody Testing is FDA approved for serum or oral fluid specimens.
Specimen Collection
Collect 1 ml of serum or 1 orasure device.
Specimen Storage
Store the specimen in refrigeration.
Specimen Transport
Specimens may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours, or sent by mail.
Testing Results
Results are available 1 to 7 normal working days after receipt of specimen at the laboratory. A written report will be provided for all specimens received. Positive results will be phoned and/or faxed upon request.
Specimen Submission Forms
Use the Monster form, and include a copy of the physician's orders and billing information.
