HIV 1 Viral Load Testing
This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
HIV 1 Viral Load Testing is performed using b-DNA, to detect circulating viral RNA copies of HIV-1.
Specimens
HIV 1 Viral Load Testing is FDA approved for plasma sample specimens.
Specimen Collection
Collect 2cc of plasma, drawing into a white-cap tube, spinning to separate plasma from red blood cells.
Specimen Storage
If the sample is not transported to the lab immediately, freeze the specimen.
Specimen Transport
Specimens must be refrigerated, and may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours, or sent by mail.
Testing Results
Results are available 1 to 7 normal working days after receipt of specimen at the laboratory. A written report will be provided for all specimens received. Results will be phoned and/or faxed upon request.
Specimen Submission Forms
Use the Monster form for submission, and include a copy of the physician's orders and billing information.
