Anti-Hepatitis C Virus Antibody Testing
This testing service is available to health providers and clinics in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake counties.
Testing Method
Abbott HCV EIA 2.0 assay uses enzyme immunoassay technology to detect anti-Hepatitis C antibody in serum or plasma specimens.
Specimens
Anti-Hepatitis C Virus Antibody Testing is FDA approved for serum and plasma specimens.
Specimen Collection
Whole blood specimen: >1 ml
or
Serum specimen: >0.5 ml
or
Plasma specimen: If collecting plasma, submit the correct ratio of anticoagulant quantity to specimen volume as recommended by the manufacturer of anticoagulant.
Specimen Storage
Store specimens at 2 - 8 degrees Celsius for up to 14 days. Do NOT freeze specimens on the clot or on the red cells.
Specimen Transport
Transport specimens to laboratory at 2 - 8 degrees Celsius. Specimens may be dropped off by courier at the laboratory during normal business hours.
Testing Results
Results are available 1 to 5 normal working days after receipt of specimen at the laboratory. A written report will be provided for all specimens received. Positive results will be phoned and/or faxed upon request.
