What's New

  • Get Back on the Road Again - Driver's License Release Program
The California Child Support Services Program is offering a License Release Program during the month of August 2009 - Child Support Awareness Month at specified locations throughout California.

  • E-Update For Employers
CSS is pleased to announce the launch of E-Update, an online newsletter for employers and payroll professionals. E-Update was developed as a tool to communicate important child support wage withholding processing and program news to employers and payroll professionals. E-Update gives employers an avenue to ask questions and share their feedback.

  • Compromise of Arrears Program (COAP)
In certain child support cases, the law allows for a parent to pay less than his or her total child support debt owed to the government because their child received public assistance during a time that the parent did not pay the court ordered child support. This is called a compromise of arrears.

  • Information for Parents MAKING Support Payments
If you have an open case with a local child support agency and do not pay through wage withholding, you have several payment options.

  • Information for Parties RECEIVING Support Payments
DCSS now offers new payment options. You can enroll to receive payments by direct deposit into a checking or savings account OR enroll to receive payments by Electronic Pay card, similar to ATM or debit card.

Child Support Computer System
California's Department of Child Support Services is Continuing to make changes related to the new child support computer system. There are two major changes that have impacted payment processing. They are as follows:

Statewide Allocation

Effective August 1, 2006, payments are processed based on the number of cases belonging to a "paying parent". Payments will be divided between cases based upon several factors including the amount owed and paid by the “paying parent” and whether the payment(s) are for current or past due support.

Change of Address

Effective September 1, 2006, parents making payments and employers responsible for wage withholding are required to send all support payments directly to the State instead of the local child support office.

Payments must be mailed to:
State Disbursement Unit
P.O. Box 989067
West Sacramento, CA 95798
