Some enforcement remedies used by DCSS:

Wage assignments   The employer is ordered to deduct the child support and/or payment on arrears from the NCP's pay and forward it to the Child Support Office. DCSS must credit the non-custodial parent's accounts and distribute support payments within two business days after receipt of the payment.

Contempt of Court   DCSS must prove that the NCP had the ability to pay the child support as ordered but failed to do so. The judge has the ability to sentence the NCP to jail if he/she fails to comply with the judge's orders.

Intercepts   A portion of Disability and Unemployment payments, lottery prizes and tax returns are automatically intercepted if child support is owed.

Writs and liens   When assets or income are located such as bank accounts, Workers' Compensation payments, or personal injury lawsuit settlements, legal steps are taken to obtain child support owed.

State License Revocation Program (SLMS)   A system for reporting non-custodial parents with delinquent child support obligations to State agency boards which issue occupational, professional and driver's licenses. The issuance of a new license or renewal is held until a release is obtained from the Child Support office.

Franchise Tax Board Full Collection (FTB)   Cases which fit certain criteria are submitted to FTB for collection. FTB uses their legal ability to obtain bank accounts, assets and serve wage assignments.
