Does how I pay child support affect my credit rating?

Answer

The payment history on all accounts in the Department of Child Support Services is reported to credit reporting agencies. All non-custodial parents are initially reported with the highest rating, regardless of balance or payment history. If the parent continues to make even partial payments, the rating stays high. If he or she fails to make monthly payments, the missed payments are reported and the credit report rating deteriorates based on the number of payments missed.
