What if I lose my job or make less money than when support was ordered?

If you believe your child support is to high, you may make a request to have your order reviewed. Due to the substantial number of cases handled by the Department of Child Support Services, the order may only be reviewed if it is at least two years old.

When a parent experiences a significant change of circumstances, that parent can try to change the order by petitioning the court to modify the amount of support ordered. The papers necessary to petition the court are available at the Sonoma County Superior Court, 600 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa.
