Oscar Chavez, Executive Director of Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County, came to this county after many years with the Kern County Community Action Agency where he held several different positions: Director of Public Relations and Marketing, Director of Business Support Services, and briefly as Interim Executive Director.
Through his past job experience and in his current position, he is dedicated to establishing strong and positive ties between the County’s low income neighborhoods, public entities and the business community in order to raise awareness about poverty and the negative impact it has on low income communities.
Currently, Mr. Chavez is working in the community to provide a range of individualized services in the areas of education and early childhood development, medical, dental, mental health, nutrition, and parent and community involvement.
Prior to joining the Partnership, Oscar directed multiple pilot projects and initiatives for the Office of Economic and Community Development at Oxnard College and was the Assistant to the Dean of Instruction and Innovation.
Mr. Chavez is also Legislative and Policy Committee Chair for the California Nevada Community Action Partnership; a member of the Sonoma County Innovation Council; Sonoma County Health Action Council; Energy & Green Workforce Initiative Chair for the Sonoma County Workforce Investment Board; Community Benefit Board Member for St. Joseph Health Systems; founding member of the Sonoma County Coalition for Latino Civic Engagement (CLACE), and was recently chosen as one of the North Bay’s 40 Under 40 leaders by the North Bay Business Journal.
He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from California State University Bakersfield (CUSB) in Political Science.
Oscar and his wife, Christine, live in Windsor with their four boys; Cooper, Fisher, Greyson, and Harrison.
