Community Development Block Grant-Recovery (CDBG-R)

The Sonoma County Community Development Commission will receive $534,690 to partially fund community capital projects such as municipal infrastructure projects and for public services. To the extent feasible, CDBG-R funds will be prioritized for:

  1. Preserving and creating jobs and promoting economic recovery;
  2. Assisting those most impacted by the recession;
  3. Providing investment needed to increase economic efficiency;
  4. Investing in transportation, environmental protection or other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits;
  5. Minimizing or avoiding reductions in essential services; or
  6. Fostering energy independence.

Public Hearing Notice

The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (SCCDC) expects to receive federal stimulus funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Community Development Block Grant Recovery Program (CDBG-R) in the amount of $534,690.  As a requirement to receive this funding, a Substantial Amendment to the FY 08-09 Action Plan must be submitted to HUD by June 5, 2009.

The draft Substantial Amendment to the FY 08-09 Action Plan, containing funding recommendations from the Technical Advisory Committee and the Community Development Committee formulated at a concurrent public hearing on May 19, 2009, can be reviewed at the following locations:

The public is invited to submit written comments on the Substantial Amendment to the SCCDC until 5:00 PM on May 29, 2009.  Final funding decisions by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will occur at their June 2, 2009, 8:30 a.m. public meeting.
