Steering CommitteeThe BEA's Steering Committee is comprised of board members representing businesses throughout Sonoma County. Their united goal is to share information and provide strategies for businesses to attain higher profits through better environmental practices. Each member of the committee offers specialized information depending on their individual background. Julie Collins Tom Conlon Mr. Conlon, a founder of two Sonoma County businesses (GeoPraxis and Green Building Studio, Inc.), is an applied anthropologist and leading expert in energy-related social marketing. Since 1992, he has designed, implemented, and evaluated programs and information technologies that help businesses and consumers better manage their use of energy and other resources. His clients have included Pacific Gas & Electric, the California Energy Commission, and The World Bank (Jamaica). A Fellow of the Society for Applied Anthropology, he holds a BA (w/ honors) from UC Santa Cruz and certificates in Energy Management & Design (Sonoma State University) and Marketing Planning (UC Berkeley). Peter Hoberg Mr. Hoberg is currently VP Sales and Marketing for Solmetric Corporation, an manufacturer of test equipment for solar energy professionals. He has over 20 years experience in marketing and business development for high technology applications. Cameron Scott Kirk, Co-Chair Mr. Kirk is of counsel with Spaulding McCullough & Tansil in Santa Rosa. He has emphasized environmental, real estate, land use, and water law within his litigation and regulatory practice. He has extensive experience in complex litigation and has lectured and published several articles concerning his areas of expertise. Mr. Kirk is active on numerous community boards and committees. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1975 and his Juris Doctorate from Hastings College of the Law in 1982. Erik Kunz Erik Kunz is the Manager of Environmental Health & Safety and Security at Medtronic's Santa Rosa location, which employs approximately 1300 local employees at 5 locations in the local area. He is also responsible for coordinating the Business Continuity Planning function for the site. Prior to working for Medtronic, he worked as an Environmental Health & Safety professional at JDS Uniphase in Santa Rosa, and SEMATECH in Austin, Texas. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Minnesota State University-Mankato, and a Masters degree in Industrial Safety & Industrial Hygiene from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and is a Certified Industrial Hygienist. Erik chairs the steering committee for the Sonoma County Employer's Coalition on Health, is an active member of the Sonoma County Business Resiliency Roundtable. Claire McCarthy Claire McCarthy works at Agilent Technologies, Inc. where she has responsibility as the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for the Northwest Region. Claire has worked at Agilent in Santa Rosa since 2000. Before joining Agilent, Claire worked as Environmental Manager at SOLA Optical in Petaluma where she was project manager for soil and groundwater remediation efforts. Claire has over 19 years of experience in the field of EHS and continues to improve the environmental and sustainability performance in the workplace. Claire has a BS in Chemistry and Zoology from the University of Dublin, Ireland, is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and a Fellow of the Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy. David Meddaugh David Meddaugh is Senior Vice President and Market Manager of the Santa Rosa Regional Commercial Banking Office at Bank of America. The Regional office serves middle market businesses in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties. Bank of America's Commercial Banking Division provides a full range of commercial and investment banking services including credit, deposit, capital markets, corporate finance, and investment/treasury management to the middle market business segment, defined as companies with revenues of $20 million to $500 million. Mr. Meddaugh holds a Corporate Finance degree from Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington, and bachelor's degrees in both Economics and Finance from California State University Chico. Dave is extremely active in his community, serving on numerous community boards and active in local children’s soccer and Cub Scout groups. Mr. Meddaugh has been presented with Bank of America's prestigious CEO Award, and is a five time recipient of the Award of Excellence. Mr. Meddaugh was the founding Co-Chair of the BEA. Michael O'Brien Warren Smith Warren Smith, CSP, has managed the Environment, Health & Safety support services for the JDS Custom Optics Products Group (formerly OCLI) in Santa Rosa since 1995 and the JDSU Communications Test & Measurement Group since 2005. Prior to that, he worked in Research and Development in the oil industry for five years and had 20 years of environmental, health and safety experience in oil refining and geothermal operations. He is a Certified Safety Professional in Comprehensive Practice. He is currently active on the Sonoma County Employers' Coalition on Health and the Santa Rosa Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) initiative in southwest Santa Rosa. He is a Leadership Santa Rosa alumnus, a Rotarian and coaches youth ice hockey. Warren has a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Carry Wicht Carry Wicht has responsibilities for Facilities Management for Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park. This includes oversight for Plant Operations and Maintenance, Environmental Services, Landscape Maintenance, Minor Construction and Operator Services at our 20 + buildings. Her scope of operations leads naturally to an active role in sustainability decisions and implementation. Carry has worked for Kaiser Permanente for over 13 years as Facility Services Director and over 20 years in various positions. She holds a BS from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and an MBA from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. | |||
