Board Of Zoning Adjustments
The Board of Zoning Adjustments (BZA) conducts public hearings and makes decisions on applications for Use Permits, Zoning Variances and Coastal Development Permits.
Children & Families Commission
Established in 1998, the commission is charged with promoting, supporting
and improving the early development of children from the prenatal
stage through five years of age.
Commission on AIDS
The Commission works to maintain and improve local services for
individuals with HIV and identifies and prioritizes local HIV treatment
and care service needs.
Commission on Human Rights
The purpose of the Commission on Human Rights is to promote better human relations among all people in Sonoma County through education, advocacy, and by initiating action that fosters the recognition of and an appreciation for the cultural diversity of our community.
Commission on the Status of Women
The Commission on the Status of Women actively works to eliminate discrimination on the basis of sex in the areas of education, employment, health, housing community service and other related fields. The Commission on the Status of Women provides information and services to women and the community on womens rights and issues.
Community Development Commission
The Community Development Commission (CDC) is established as a separate
public entity which operates both a Redevelopment Agency and a Housing
Authority under a single governing board. The Board of Supervisors
has designated itself as the Board of Commissioners of the CDC and
as the governing board of both the Housing Authority and Redevelopment
Agency.

The commission promotes conservation of fish and game

Records Commission
The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission promotes the preservation
of historical records in and about Sonoma County, California. Visit

Human Services Commission
The Commission helps create community-wide service systems where no other department or citizens advisory body has direct responsibility. The Human Services Commission provides the Board with information to set policy and priorities. The Commission works to develop and coordinate the human and financial resources to solve community problems.
Juvenile
Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission
Advocates and protects the safety and well-being of dependent and
delinquent youth as well as promotes intervention and prevention
services and programs in Sonoma County.
Office of Commissions
The Office of Commissions supports and enhance the work of the Commission
on Human Rights, Commission on the Status of Women , and the Human
Services Commission through efficient coordination of resources
and by promoting community participation in commission activities.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission (PC) holds public hearings and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors concerning updates and amendments to the County's General Plan and Zoning regulations. The Planning Commission also holds hearings and makes decisions on major subdivisions and mining proposals.
Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission
The Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission is a county/city membership commission established in 1993 by a joint powers agreement between the County of Sonoma and the City of Sonoma. The purpose of the 15 member body is to provide a regular forum for citizen participation in the formation of public policy, consider issues concerning the Sonoma Valley, evaluate solutions of these issues, advise elected officials and other decision makers, and form a bridge for communication between the various governmental agencies and the general public. The SVCAC meets on the fourth Wednesday of most months, 6:30pm, location varies. For information call 565-2241.
